More babies survive after neonatal intensive care following preterm births and other serious medical conditions than previously, leading to increasing numbers of children living with lifelong healthcare needs. They may need ongoing care from community paediatric services, specialist outpatients, children’s wards, high dependency and paediatric intensive care units. This new ÖйúPÕ¾ Framework for Practice aims to describe principles for safe, effective and personalised transition of care of babies from neonatal to paediatric services; this includes holistic support of their complex health and care needs and their families’ psychosocial welfare. It also provides information to services and regional bodies on what is required to further develop high quality transition pathways.
This webinar is aimed at all neonatal and paediatric medical, nursing, and allied health staff who care for such babies and supports the upcoming launch of the ÖйúPÕ¾ Framework for Practice on the Transition from neonatal to paediatric care for babies with long term or complex healthcare needs.
