Help us evaluate NEWTT2
The NEWTT2 observation chart was launched in January 2023 and has gradually been adopted across the United Kingdom both as a paper chart and in a digital format. The chart is significantly different from its predecessor, the original NEWTT chart, not only in terms of the observations recorded and the use of a total score for each set of observations, but also in the associated escalation and response framework.
It is therefore essential that we are able to evaluate the impact of this new chart 鈥 is it being completed appropriately and are the time frames for escalation achievable in postnatal care areas? Collecting this data will not only inform future revisions of the chart but will also allow us to identify priorities for future research into the effectiveness of newborn early warning scores.
We are therefore asking those working in neonatal care to evaluate use of the NEWTT2 chart in their own unit as part of a national audit.
